Swordman

The Swordman
The Swordman
Swordmen are generally the party's front line fighters and can take a huge amount of damage. This holds even more true at high levels. The Swordman excels in melee combat, whether tanking or dealing damage. General class reference guide. ReClassic applies its own rebalance to several skills, so some builds and skills may differ from classic Ragnarok.

Standard Builds

The Swordman's two classic paths are AGI (Flee and attack speed) and VIT (HP and resistance for tanking).

Becoming a Swordman

Requirements: being a Novice, having learned all 9 Basic Skills and having spent all your skill points. The Swordman Guild is in Izlude (`izlude_in`). Note: the Swordman also offers an instant class change, no test needed. But you lose the 50142.png Swordman's Glove: STR +5 and +10% EXP up to level 60. It's well worth doing the quest.
StepWhat to do
1Talk to the Swordman (izlude_in,74,172) and choose Take the test.
2Talk to the Test Room Staff (izlude_in,30,163) to be taken to the course (`job_sword1`).
3The obstacle course. Cross the 3 rooms until you reach Mae at the end. The floor is full of invisible traps: stepping on one teleports you to a random spot and wastes your time. Walk slowly.
4When you reach Mae, you pass. Go back to the Swordman in Izlude to receive your class and the Glove.
If you fail, the Test Room Staff gives you 5 512.png Apples as a consolation prize, and you can try again as many times as you like.

Leveling Spots

MapLocationDifficultyNotes
espadachim-culvert.pngSewersEasy to MediumThe Sewers are the starting point for your first levels. You can stay here until job 40, since the EXP improves as you go down the floors.
espadachim-anthell.pngMorroc FieldsEasy to MediumSame technique as the Sewers, plus a ton of loot to sell.
espadachim-byalan.pngByalanMedium to HardWant more adventure? Check out Byalan. Lots of rare items and lots of people to party with. AGI characters have the advantage thanks to the monsters' slow attack.
espadachim-orcsdun.pngOrcsMedium to HardThis is where leveling starts to get serious. Orcs deal high damage, but give a lot of EXP. Bring potions and avoid the Orc Lady at low levels.
espadachim-highorc.pngGrand OrcsHardThe Grand Orc only has 6,8k HP, 5 to 6 Bash hits are enough to take one down. Keep your potions stocked and grab your quest skills beforehand.
