The ThiefThieves are demons of speed and a force to be feared. Agile and powerful, few can keep up with their attack speed and power. Combined with naturally high Flee and Double Attack, Thieves are the perfect killing machine.

Becoming a Thief
Requirements: be a Aprendiz, have learned all 9 Basic Skills and have spent all your skill points.
The Thief Guild is in the Morroc Pyramid, in the basement (`moc_prydb1`).
Attention: the NPC also offers changing class on the spot, no test. But you'll lose the Thief's Glove: AGI +5 and +10% EXP up to level 60.
Step
What to do
1
Talk to the Thief Boss (moc_prydb1,42,133) and choose Take the test. The Thief Helper (moc_prydb1,39,129) will answer your questions.
2
Gather mushrooms. He grades the mushrooms by points (table below). You need 25 points or more.
3
Come back to him with the mushrooms and he'll promote you.
You need 25 points. The fastest way is 9 Orange Net Mushrooms (27 points). With only Orange Gooey Mushrooms, you'd need 25 units.
Careful: it removes all the mushrooms in your inventory, not just the ones needed.
Bonus: it also pays you zeny based on the mushrooms turned in (Orange Net Mushrooms pay much more), so it's worth bringing a few extra.
Unlike the Swordman and the Merchant, you can't simply stay here until job 40, since the Thief has no AoE attack or burst damage. Get your first class levels here and then move on. Kill Spores and Tarous to level fast. You can go deeper and hunt Poison Spores and Thief Bugs, but be careful since they're aggressive. Prioritize AGI and DEX (or LUK if you're aiming for critical), since you can buy high-damage weapons from the NPC.
Morroc Fields / Anthell
Easy to Medium
This map is perfect for Thieves, since they specialize in one-on-one combat. The mobs here aren't aggressive, so you don't need to worry about wasting potions. Watch out for Anthell, though. Same technique as the Sewers. In the early levels, focus first on Mukas, then move on to Hodes once you have enough Flee.
Byalan / Orcs
Medium
Once you have enough Flee, you can start hunting on these maps. Be careful, though, since most monsters here are aggressive. Go straight to Byalan 3. Byalan loot is in high demand! Save your loot and look for players buying. AGI characters tend to have the advantage here, thanks to the monsters' slow attacks and low Hit.
Myst Cases / Sandmen
Medium to Hard
If you're looking for a different place to hunt, these maps are perfect for you. Hunt Myst Cases at the Toy Factory and Sandmen on the Morroc field. Good loot, good EXP. The Myst Case drops several things that can make you rich! Grab all the loot! Be careful not to get surrounded by Sandmen and bring a gun if it fits your budget. Don't worry, since you excel at one-on-one combat, just avoid getting surrounded.
Mjolnir Fields / Ayothaya
Medium to Hard
Argiope drops Boots[1], which is worth a fortune, and you can hunt while leveling. If your goal is job 50, hunt Leaf Cats in Ayothaya. Be careful not to get poisoned by Argiope. Move away as soon as it starts casting. Always keep Back Slide and Detoxify ready. Avoid getting surrounded. Leaf Cats are easy to kill. It's a peaceful leveling spot.
