Expedition Guide

Expedition Guide

expedicao-mapa-hero.png
Midgard has 219 maps with monsters, and the Expedition Guide turns each one of them into a contract. Completing a contract earns Expedition Seals; Seals buy Field Marks, which are permanent bonuses against one type of creature. Everything here belongs to the account, not the character. What you've earned applies to the character you create tomorrow too.
Expedition Contract
The item that opens everything

The Expedition Contract is given by Reidin and opens the Guide for any place in the world. It cannot be sold, traded, or sent to storage: it is one per character, and it is not consumed on use. With the item you turn in materials for the map you're on and check the journal. Buying, upgrading, and swapping a Mark requires Reidin in person.

Getting started

  1. Get the Contract from Reidin, at Eden.
  2. Hunt on any map. Kills are logged instantly, with no need to tell anyone.
  3. Open the Contract right there and turn in the map's materials.
  4. Gather Seals and go back to Reidin to buy your first Field Mark.
The world map, region journal, album, and the full Mark catalog are on the Expedition Guide on the site

Contracts

There are 219 contracts, one per map that has monsters. The world's other maps are city hubs and don't become contracts.

What closes a contract

Three requirements, all mandatory:
  • ๐Ÿ”น A kill goal the size of the map's population, from 50 to 376.
  • ๐Ÿ”น At least one of each species that spawns there. An MVP isn't required, and neither is a rare species: a creature that spawns alone and takes an hour or more to respawn shows up on the map's list, but doesn't block the contract.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Materials: three items that drop on the map and one card from any beast there.
Reidin logs the kills by himself, the instant they happen. You hand in the materials in person, through the Contract menu.

A sample contract

The one for Prontera Field 08, kill goal of 192:

705.png140ร— Cloverdrops on the map itself
512.png50ร— Appledrops on the map itself
616.png1 card from any beast on the mapproves you got close
The card is what matters most: it proves you got close enough, for long enough. Maps without the three items have the amount of what's left doubled.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Five contracts require no material at all: the five Rachel Sanctuaries, in the Temporal Dungeons. The monsters there are exclusive to ReClassic and their drop list wasn't included in the material generator, so there the contract closes with just kills and species.

Region milestones

Region rewards add up to more than the contracts. Closing an entire region is the hard work, and that's where the payoff is:
MilestoneRequirementSeals
Recognitionhalf the region's contracts250
City Letterall of the region's contracts750
Golden Sealall contracts and no MVP left standing1.500
The site's journal shows 23 sheets and not 18: the Temporal Dungeons count as a single region for the milestones, but appear split into six sheets so you can track each one.

The ceiling

Selos
A full 100% earns 107.200 Seals

30.900 from the 219 contracts, 3.300 from the 33 MVP kills, 45.000 from the milestones of the 18 regions, and 28.000 from the two decorations. For comparison: the entire Mark catalog costs 333.200 Seals. Whoever closes out the whole world can buy less than a third of it: the full collection is out of reach by design, and choosing what to buy is part of the game.

Final rewards

Mapping out the world grants two decorations. They only come from here: they're not for sale, they don't drop from monsters, and they can't be traded, mailed, or sold. They belong to the account, so any of your characters can wear them, and they occupy different visual slots: you can use both at once.

You don't need to come pick it up. The decoration lands in your hand the instant the last milestone closes, wherever you are. If your bag is full at that moment, it's held by Reidin and he hands it over when you show up.

Where to check what's left

At Reidin, under My expedition journal. After the region-by-region list comes the scoreboard for the two decorations: how many of the eighteen already recognize you, and how many Golden Seals you have.

Field Marks

A Field Mark is a permanent bonus against one type of target, valid for the whole account. It doesn't take up inventory space, doesn't disappear on death, and isn't lost when you swap equipment. The catalog has 143 Marks. You use four at a time.

The four slots

expedicao-espacos.png
There are four slots, one per notebook, and each one only accepts a Mark from its own notebook: a Race Mark doesn't fit in the Element slot. They're four separate decisions, not four equal slots. They open in stages, as you map out the world:
SlotTargetsOpens when
exp-raca-dragon.png1st Race10from the start

exp-tam-large.png3rd Size3the 15 regions with a city mapped
616.png4th Class2the 18 regions plus 2 album pages closed
  • ๐Ÿ”น Niflheim, Glast Heim, and the Temporal Dungeons have no hub city. They're exactly the three that separate "mapping every city" from "mapping the world", which is why the third slot opens before the fourth.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Equipping, swapping, or upgrading only takes effect starting from your next login.

The nine effects

Every Mark starts at 7 and caps at 15. What changes from one to another is the target and the effect:

  • ๐Ÿ”น A Mark stacks with a card. The two add up, and neither cancels the other.
  • ๐Ÿ”น The bonus is built on login. Bought, swapped, or upgraded? Relog for it to take effect.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Storing a Mark doesn't destroy it: it leaves the slot, stops taking effect, and stays yours.

How to unlock a Mark

Reidin
Reidin only sells what you've already faced

For him to talk about dragons, you need to have fought every dragon species that spawns in the contracts, at least once each. That's why a broad target is hard to unlock and cheap to buy, while a narrow target is the opposite: Brutes asks for 68 species and the Mark costs 950; Angels are only 7 species, and the same Mark costs 3.000.

The list of what's missing shows up in both places: Reidin names the next species, and the site panel shows all of them with sprite and a link to the database.

How much it costs

The price rises with the danger and rarity of the target: the higher the average level of what spawns there and the fewer species that group has, the pricier the Mark.

Neutral costs three times what the formula would call for. It's the default element of nearly everything that walks the world, and the rarity term was making it cheaper for exactly that reason.

Study Points

The Study Point is what takes a Mark from 7 to 15. It isn't bought with Seals: it comes from the album.
TierCostThe Mark becomes worth
1st2 Study Points9
2nd4 Study Points11
3rd6 Study Points13
4th8 Study Points15 (requires a completed Boss page)
  • ๐Ÿ”น Taking one Mark to the cap costs 20 Study Points.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Second Wind is the exception: its number is SP per kill, not a percentage, so it goes from 1 to 5, +1 per tier.

Card Album

expedicao-album.png
The album records what your account has found. There are 386 cards across 65 pages of 6, and a completed page becomes a Study Point:
BlockPagesStudy Points per page
Regular monsters541
Mini-bosses52
Bosses63
That's 82 Study Points in total. A full album maxes out exactly your four slots, with 2 Study Points left over. Two pages complete with fewer than six, at the end of the block: page 53 has five cards and page 64 has three. That's the remainder of the division, not a missing card.
Card Album
The album keeps what fell on the ground

Entry into the album is the pickup event: the card has to drop and you have to loot it. A card bought, traded, or pulled from a box sits in your bag, works in the slot and counts the same in combat, but doesn't enter the album on its own. The one who fixes that is Pipo.

  • ๐Ÿ”น Only cards from non-MVP monsters that spawn on some map in the Guide count.
  • ๐Ÿ”น The album is account-wide and counts from the server's very first day.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Selling, breaking in the slot, or losing the character doesn't erase the card from the album.

Reidin, the Cartographer

Reidin, the Cartographer
Forty-two years on the road, and his notebook is the whole system. He's in Eden, at 19 21. /navi eden 19/21 His menu has:
  • ๐Ÿ”น Turn in the materials from here - only shows up when there's still something to turn in.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Details of this contract - kills and species still missing on the map you're on.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Field Marks - the slots, the purchase, and the deepening. Only here, in person.
  • ๐Ÿ”น My expedition journal - the progress of each region.
  • ๐Ÿ”น How this works - the full explanation, in his own words.
The Contract doesn't work while sitting or mounted. It's an emulator limitation for slow-to-use items, not a choice by the server.

Pipo, the Collector

Pipo, o Colecionador
He's in Prontera, in the city's southwest corner. /navi prontera 49/65 Reidin spent forty-two years hunting to fill his notebook. Pipo is nine years old and doesn't have that kind of time, so he trades. Hand over a card and he pastes it into the album on the spot.
Album
The price is the card itself

Pipo consumes the card and records the page. There's no zeny, Seal, or fee: the cost is the card disappearing, and it was an item you could have used in a slot or sold. Only a card that has a page in the album and that your account doesn't have yet counts, he checks both again the moment he pastes it in.

  • ๐Ÿ”น Good for whoever prefers trading over hunting: a card bought from another player closes the page the same way.
  • ๐Ÿ”น He tells you right away how many are missing to complete that card's page.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Once the page is complete, the Study Point shows up with Reidin. Two NPCs, one single system.

Omnipedia

In the web client, the Omnipedia (the game's book of monsters and items) is the Expedition Guide inside the game itself. What Reidin shows and does in his dialogue is there, next to the monster and item pages, and everything is read straight from the server. In ReClassic.exe it does not exist: there, the Guide is still Reidin and the Contract. To open it: menu Guides > Omnipedia, or the Omnipedia button in the window of any item.

On monsters and items

  • ๐Ÿ”น Each monster shows Hunted, with how many kills the contracts have already recorded, or Never hunted. A monster that does not spawn on any map with a contract appears as Outside the Guide, because it does not count toward the Expedition.
  • ๐Ÿ”น In Habitat, each map with a contract shows its progress, for example Contract 120/192 ยท 5/6 species ยท materials 2/4, and how many of that monster you have already recorded there. One click on that line opens the contract in the Expedition tab. The species counted are the mandatory ones: MVP and rare species are left out, as in the contract.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Each map records up to the species' capacity, so a Poring on a map with 14 Porings stops counting at 14. These are the same numbers as in the site's journal.
  • ๐Ÿ”น In Filters, the list separates Hunted and Not hunted. A monster you have never fought stays on the list.
  • ๐Ÿ”น In Drops, each card tells you whether it is already in your album.
  • ๐Ÿ”น On an item page, the Expedition block tells you which contracts it is a material for (with how much you have in your backpack, or whether you have already delivered it), which contracts it serves as a card for, and which album page it is on.

The Expedition tab

At the top is the scoreboard: closed contracts, Seals, free Study Grades and album cards, with the two decorations and how many regions already count toward each. You are here takes you straight to the contract of the map the character is on.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Regions: the 18 regions with the three milestones and how much each one pays. Each contract opens with the reward in Seals, the species of the map (MVP and optional species marked) and the materials.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Deliver material: the button sits next to each material of the contract. It lights up when you are on the contract's map, with the Expedition Contract in your backpack and the whole batch. The first click turns into Confirm delivery, the second delivers. The card is chosen from among those you have and the map accepts.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Notebooks: the four notebooks of the Field Marks. Each target shows the species you still have to face (one click opens the monster) and all of its Marks with the price. Buying, deepening, equipping and storing work from there when the character is in front of Reidin, in Eden; away from him the buttons are greyed out and say why.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Album: the 65 pages, with the closed ones highlighted, the cards of each one and how many Grades the page yields.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Ranking: the top ten in closed contracts and in album cards.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Help: the summary of the rules.
  • ๐Ÿ”น A decoration that was kept with Reidin for lack of space gets a Retrieve button at the top of the tab.

When it updates

  • ๐Ÿ”น It reads the server when you open it, after each delivery or Mark change and, while it is open, a few seconds after you kill a monster from the map's contract. At most one kills reading every 10 seconds.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Kills, species, contracts, Seals and Marks appear the way Reidin sees them, without the site's delay. The album uses the same record as the site and may take a few minutes to show a new card.
  • ๐Ÿ”น The rules are the same as in the dialogue: the server checks and records. A Mark that was bought, deepened or swapped only takes effect after you relog.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • ๐Ÿ”น Is progress per character? No. Everything is account-wide, including for characters created afterward.
  • ๐Ÿ”น I killed the monster and the site did not update. The site reads the record the server writes from time to time, so it lags by a few minutes. Reidin reads live and is the official source. In the web client, the Omnipedia also reads live.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Do I need to kill an MVP to complete the contract? No. MVP is optional: it pays extra Seals and counts toward the region's Golden Seal.
  • ๐Ÿ”น What about that rare monster that almost never shows up? That doesn't block progress either. A species that spawns in at most two instances and takes an hour or more to respawn counts as optional: the Male Maya in Morocc Field 14 is the example. It still stays on the map's list, and killing it counts toward the Field Marks.
  • ๐Ÿ”น I bought the Mark and didn't feel a difference. The bonus is applied on login. Relog and it takes effect.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Do I lose the Mark if I store it? No. Stored, it leaves the slot and stops having an effect, but it stays yours forever.
  • ๐Ÿ”น I have the card in my bag and it's not in the album. The album records what you picked up off the ground. A bought or traded card goes through Pipo, who consumes it and pastes in the page.
  • ๐Ÿ”น Can I move the Mark from one slot to another? Within the same notebook, yes, with Reidin. Between different notebooks, no: each slot only accepts its own notebook.
