The Assassin
The Assassin, the Thief's second class, is the only class able to equip a weapon in each hand and the sole user of Katar [1]-type weapons. It can follow the Dagger path or the Katar [1] path. It's also a specialist in poison skills, and if that's not enough, it can turn invisible and attack you when you least expect it.
General class reference guide. ReClassic applies its own rebalance to several skills, so some builds and skills may differ from classic Ragnarok.
ReClassic Exclusive: Assassin Soul Link
In ReClassic, the Assassin Soul Link (the buff granted by the Herald of the Soul) boosts three specific Assassin skills. While the Soul Link is active, it gets +50% damage with Sonic Blow, Swift Sonic Blow and Grimtooth. The bonus only applies to these three skills and only while the Soul Link is active.
In practice, an Assassin who receives the Soul Link from a Herald of the Soul gets a significant damage boost on these skills, so it's worth coordinating with a Herald of the Soul in a party, MVP run or WoE. This boost is part of the server's own class rebalance.
Becoming an Assassin
Requirements: be a Thief, have at least job level 40 and have spent all your skill points.
The Assassin Guild is in the Morroc underground (`in_moc_16`), enter through the house in Morroc and go down.
Attention: Assassin Huey also offers to become an Assassin on the spot for 100,000z, no test needed. But you lose the rewards: the 100,000z bonus, the weapon and the Platinum Skills.
KEY TIP: arrive at job level 49 or 50. Whoever applies at job 49+ can CHOOSE the weapon they get at the end (and it comes with a slot). Whoever arrives at job 40 to 48 gets a random, unslotted weapon. It's the biggest reward difference in the quest.
Step
What to do
1
Talk to the Guild Member (in_moc_16,19,33) and then to Assassin Khai to sign up.
2
Written test. Talk to "The Anonymous" (in_moc_16,19,154). There are 10 questions, 10 points each. You need more than 80: in other words, you can only get 1 wrong. Answer key below.
3
Target test. Enter the waiting room. You need to kill 6 monsters named exactly "Target". Details below.
4
Combat test. In the next room, face 21 Mummies and 8 Hydras.
5
The maze. Cross the maze until you find the Leader of the Assassins.
6
The interview. The Leader asks about your motivations. There's no wrong answer: answer however you like. At the end he gives you the weapon and the Necklace of Oblivion.
7
Go back to Assassin Hueywith the Necklace of Oblivion and he turns you into an Assassin.
Target test: watch out for the decoys
You need to kill 6 monsters with the exact name "Target". The room is full of decoys with similar names: killing any of them fails you instantly.
Some of the trap names that show up: "Target Creature", "Warrior Target", "Quest Target", "Mission Target", "Target to Change Job", "Battle Test", "Battle Monster", "Attack Me", "Please Don't Attack Me", "Not Me", "Anyone", "Thief's Quest", "Doppelganger", "Wicked Druid"...
Only "Target", alone, nothing else. The targets and the decoys use the same sprites (Poring, Lunatic, Mantis, Wormtail), so the sprite doesn't help: read the name.
The room also has traps scattered around: stepping on one takes you out of the test.

Right outside the Assassin Guild are the Sandmen. You can start here as a fresh Assassin to get your first levels. If Sandmen aren't your type, you can go after Myst Cases or hit a few Argiopes. You can also put the orcs on your list.
Pyramids / Sphinx
Easy to Medium
The lower floors of the Sphinx and the Pyramids have a good monster density and give fair EXP for low levels. You can start here and work your way up to the higher floors. And let's not forget the rare items you can get here.
Minorous give great EXP with great drops. Just be careful at low level: Minorous casts Hammerfall and Heaven's Drive, which can kill you if they land. Just fall back with Back Slide if you see them casting. Alarms attack slowly but hit hard. Use Hiding when you're surrounded. There are also Grand Orcs in the Clock Tower. See the pink circle in the image. You can also use Grimtooth to kill groups of monsters. With your Flee, you don't need to worry about being blinded by the Alarms, but bring green potions just in case. When dealing with Stalactic Golems, the same tips apply, since they also attack slowly and have low accuracy. Just watch out for the Stalactic Golem's stun attack.
Magma Dungeon
Medium to Hard
If you can get your hands on a water Katar [1] (or dagger), you can come here. Katar [1] users have the advantage, since they can kill mobs with Grimtooth. Use fire armor (Pasana Card).
Glast Heim
Medium to Hard
By the time you're nearing end game, you'll already be able to solo Raydric. The Raydric location is marked on the map.
Comodo Field
Medium
Another option is hunting Anolians in Comodo Field. There are also Anolians in Glast Heim, but the ones here spawn instantly.
Sphinx
Medium to Hard
Anubis is your main target here. The EXP you can get from a single Anubis is 28,000 base EXP and 22,000 job EXP. That EXP is absurdly high, so don't miss out. Wear Bathory/Evil Druid armor to nullify Dark Soul Strike. You can also enter the portal in the center if you want to pull Pasanas.
Dual dagger Assassins take advantage of dual-wielding two weapons for maximum damage. They can also easily migrate to Katars with Double Attack just by swapping a few pieces of gear.
Critical Assassins are seen as a luxury build because their gear is expensive. Despite the high cost of this build, there are many alternatives that make it viable.
Pros
High weapon ATK. Can dual-wield two weapons. Can use 8 weapon card slots.
Critical hits ignore Flee. Critical hits deal +40% damage. Critical rate is doubled when using a katar [1].
Cons
Needs a weapon collection. Low ASPD from dual-wielding 2 weapons. Size penalty against medium and large monsters.
Critical gear is expensive. Useless against opponents with high critical resistance. LUK-based Assassins miss with their skills.
Low-End
High-End
Stats
85 STR, 90 AGI, 60 DEX. Stats at level 99: a dagger Assassin needs DEX so their attacks land.
90 STR, 85 AGI, 60 LUK. Stats at level 99: 60 LUK is 20 crit. That's already a 40% critical chance with a katar [1]!
Skills
Playing as an Assassin
Invest in highly refined weapons.
Use Enchant Poison against ghosts.
Main weapon in the right hand (elemental, 20% cards).
Support weapon in the left hand (Zipper Card, Andre Card).
Always party with a Blacksmith for weapon refining.
Poison deals no damage to Undead, use Fire element instead.
