Blacksmith

The Blacksmith
The Blacksmith
Blacksmiths rely on raw physical strength and have the highest melee damage among the other second job classes. A Battle Smith's main skills revolve around self buffs to boost damage, while a weapon forger focuses on stats and forging skills to make easy zeny. General class reference guide. ReClassic applies its own rebalance to several skills, so some builds and skills may differ from classic Ragnarok.

Becoming a Blacksmith

Requirements: be a Merchant, have at least job level 40, and have spent all your skill points. If you're mounted, dismount before changing class. The Blacksmith Guild is in Geffen (`geffen_in`), southeast of the center. There are 3 steps: the written test, the order delivery, and the final test. Note: Altiregen also offers to turn you into a Blacksmith on the spot for 100,000z, no test needed. But you lose the rewards: the 100,000z bonus, the Steel, and the Platinum Skills.
StepWhat to do
1Talk to Altiregen (Master Blacksmith, geffen_in,110,170) and fill out the form.
2Written test. Talk to Helmut (geffen_in,99,161): 10 questions, 10 points each. You need 100 points, meaning you can't get a single one wrong. Answer key below.
3Order. Helmut asks you for a set of materials plus a base weapon (random). He forges the piece and hands it back for you to deliver.
4Delivery. Take the weapon to the matching customer (table below). He asks if the piece is new, answer "That's right, it's brand new!" (the other option delays the delivery). You receive the 1073.png Voucher.
5Final test. Go back to Geffen and talk to Blacksmith Marie (geffen_in,99,174). There are 5 questions worth 20 points each; you need more than 70 (you can miss 1). She gives you the 1005.png Hammer of Blacksmith.
6Go back to Altiregen with the Hammer of Blacksmith and he turns you into a Blacksmith.

Written test: Helmut's answer key

10 questions, 10 points each. You need 100. Any mistake fails you (just retake it). Question 10 ("what matters most to a Merchant?") scores a point no matter what you answer: you can pick whatever you want. There are 2 possible tests:

Leveling Spots

MapLocationDifficultyNotes
ferreiro-highorc.pngGrand OrcsEasy to MediumAt this point, you should already be able to kill a Grand Orc. Start with this map if you're looking for easy levels.
ferreiro-byalan.pngByalanEasy to MediumIf you want to take it slow and not spend on potions, you can start at Byalan 3 and go down as you level up.
ferreiro-pyramid.pngPyramid Basement 1Medium to HardThe Pyramids offer great EXP with great drops. Just be careful if you're at a low level: Minorous casts Hammerfall and Heaven's Drive, which can kill you if they land.
ferreiro-pyramid4.pngPyramid 4MediumAnother great spot is Pyramid level 4. Here you can kill Isis, Matyrs, Mimic and Mummy, all dropping useful items.
ferreiro-ctower3.pngClock TowerMedium to HardAlarms drop Brooch[1], which is a valuable piece of equipment. You can hunt here if you have enough DEF, HP, or FLEE, since the monsters are aggressive and can surround you. There are also Grand Orcs in the pink marker. Alarms can blind you, so don't forget blindness resistance items.
ferreiro-magma1.pngMagma DungeonMedium to HardMagma Dungeon, the holy grail of zeny farmers. As soon as you have your area damage skill (Cart Revolution), you can move here. Make sure you can pull mobs and bring plenty of potions. Use fire armor (Pasana Card).
ferreiro-gh.pngGlast HeimMedium to HardAs you get close to high level, you can go to GH. This map offers many leveling spots for different classes. The most famous spots here are the cemetery, gl_knt, castle, anolians, and much more. Explore this map well.
ferreiro-turdun.pngTurtle DungeonMedium to HardAnother famous spot for high levels is the Turtle Dungeon. Monster density here is high, so you don't need to worry about running out of things to kill. Head to the next floors for more EXP and monsters.
ferreiro-nif.pngNiflheim FieldsMedium to HardAnother high level spot is Niflheim Field 2. Each of the mobs here gives a good amount of EXP, and the monster density is good. Have Bathory/Evil Druid armor to nullify the Dark Soul Strike.
ferreiro-sphinx.pngSphinxMedium to HardAnubis is your main target here. The EXP you get from a single Anubis is 28,000 base EXP and 22,000 job EXP. That EXP is incredibly high, so don't miss out. Have Bathory/Evil Druid armor to nullify the Dark Soul Strike. You can also enter the portal in the center if you want to pull Pasanas.

Forging Guide

Forging is what defines a Blacksmith. This section gathers every ReClassic forging recipe, straight from the server's database.

What you need

1. The right hammer for the weapon's level. Double-click it to open the forging window.
HammerForges weapons of
613.png Iron HammerLevel 1
614.png Golden HammerLevel 2
615.png Oridecon HammerLevel 3
2. An anvil in your inventory. Without an anvil you can't forge. 3. The weapon's materials (see the recipes below). 4. The matching forging mastery for the weapon type (Sword Mastery, Dagger Mastery, Axe Mastery, etc.).

Elemental Stones and Star Crumb

In the forging window you can add stones together with the materials. They're optional, but they're what turns a common weapon into a real weapon.
StoneElement
990.png Red BloodFire
991.png Crystal BlueWater
992.png Wind of VerdureWind
993.png Green LiveEarth
GOLDEN RULE: use only ONE elemental stone per forge. With two elemental stones the forge fails automatically and you lose everything. Combinations with 1000.png Star Crumb:
CombinationResult
1 Star Crumb + 1 elemental stoneStrong elemental weapon: +5 Mastery ATK
2 Star Crumb + 1 elemental stoneVery strong elemental weapon: +10 Mastery ATK
3 Star Crumb (no elemental stone)Extremely strong non-elemental weapon: +40 Mastery ATK
What is Mastery ATK? It's a fixed value added to your final damage. It's not affected by the target's defense reduction, but it is affected by elemental properties. Ranking bonus: forging enough Level 3 weapons puts you in the top 10 forgers. Whoever is in the top 10 gets an extra +10 Mastery ATK on everything they forge. Step by step

  1. Gather the weapon's materials (tables above) and have the anvil in your inventory.
  2. Double-click the hammer of the right level.
  3. Choose the weapon from the list that appears.
  4. Drag the stones (elemental and/or Star Fragment) into the window, remembering: at most 1 elemental stone.
  5. Confirm with OK.
The success chance depends on your DEX, your LUK, the weapon's level and your job level. Level 3 weapons fail much more often, so bring extra materials.
